Venue:

SRM Madurai College for Engineering and Technology

Organised by:

Dept of Mechanical Engineering

Event summary:

A one day online Faculty Development Program on Research scopes in Mechanical Engineering was conducted on 03.01.2025 .The resource person for FN Session is Dr.Kannan.G.R, Professor from PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, Dindigul presented in the topic “Fuel characterization of Alternate fuel”. He presented his specialties in analyzing properties like calorific value, viscosity, density, flash point, cetane/octane number, and emission profile. These parameters determine combustion efficiency, engine compatibility, and environmental impact. Techniques like GC-MS, FTIR, and TGA help assess fuel quality, ensuring performance, safety, and sustainability in energy applications. In the afternoon session, the resource person was Dr.Manikandaprabhu.N from Mahaguru Institute of Technology, Allapuzha Kerala. He presented in the topic,”Role of Nano Technology in Alternate Fuels”. He revealed that Nanotechnology enhances alternate fuels by improving combustion efficiency, reducing emissions, and increasing fuel stability. Nano-additives in biodiesel, ethanol, and hydrogen boost energy output and engine performance. Nanocatalysts optimize fuel production, while nanomaterials improve hydrogen storage. This technology promotes cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions, advancing the future of green transportation.
