Event summary:
The Department of Science and Humanities (Mathematics Division) successfully organized a two-days faculty development program on Unveiling Emerging Research Trends in Mathematics from August 20, 2024, to August 21, 2024, in online mode. The program aimed to enhance the pedagogical skills and knowledge of mathematics faculty members. We received 764 registration for the program. Around 350 participants from 7 states and 5 countries were attended the program. The resource person for the first session was Dr. M. Gilbert Rani, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Arul Anandar College, Madurai. She delivered an insightful talk on the topic of “Neural Network Models Using Rough Set.”The speaker provided a concise overview of neural networks, including their architecture, training process and applications.. Her talk provided a valuable introduction to the intersection of rough set theory and neural networks. Her presentation was well-structured and informative, covering both theoretical concepts and practical applications. The second session featured Dr. K Bala Deepa Arasi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi. Dr. K Bala Deepa Arasi provided an enlightening talk on the various paradigms and current research trends within topology. Her was well-received by the participants, who appreciated her clear and engaging presentation. The audience was particularly interested in learning about the applications of topology in other areas of mathematics, physics, and computer science. Dr. J. Martina Jency, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at V.O. Chidambaram College, Thoothukudi was the resource person for the third session. Her talk on “Beyond Fuziness: Exploring the Path to Neutrosophy” was thought-provoking and informative Her expertise in the field of neutrosophy was evident, and she effectively conveyed the importance of this mathematical framework in addressing the challenges of uncertainty and indeterminacy. The fourth session was held on August 21, 2024, and was delivered by Dr. S. Shriram, Head and Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Patrician College of Arts and Science, Chennai. His talk on “An Approach to Envision Labelling of Graphs” was enriching and informative. His talk focused on the intriguing subject of graph labeling, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of various approaches and applications. The fifth and final session was conducted by Dr. G. Devi Priya, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sri Krishna Aditya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. Her talk on “Advancing Knowledge: Differential Equations and Optimal Control in Practice” provided valuable insights to the participants. She began by discussing the fundamental concepts of differential equations, which are mathematical equations that relate a function and its derivatives. Participants asked questions and shared their own experiences related to the topics discussed. The interactive nature of the session enhanced the overall learning experience. The program was ended with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Dr. A. Anusuya. The faculty development program was a resounding success. The expert resource persons delivered engaging and informative talks that were well-received by the attendees. The program was a valuable opportunity for faculty members to enhance their teaching and research capabilities.
