Event Summary:
SRM MCET Pongal celebration organized by the Fine Arts Association was held on January 13, 2026, at the College campus.. Pongal celebration, the festival of harvest, joy, and thanks giving was celebrated for students to honour this traditional festival and celebrate it with enthusiasm and cultural fervour to showcase their cultural talents and creativity. Each department faculty members made Pongal and the necessary Pongal preparation materials were given to them by college. After making Pongal by each department, prayer was done at Vinayagar temple. Our beloved Principal Dr.S.Durairaj, Vice principal Dr.S.Sambath and group coordinator Mr.M.Manoharan participated in the prayer.
HIGHLIGHTS
The event commenced promptly at 9:00 AM with Pongal preparations by 11 departments opposite to vinayagar temple. This event was well coordinated by SRC team members. At the same time silambam event was conducted for students at volley ball court. Seven students showcased their talents in silambam to audience. After silambam event, singing performance on kummipaattu and dance were performed by students. From 10 am, various fun games were organized by fine arts association to students as listed below.

Dr.A.Anusuya, First year coordinator and Dr.R.Ashok kumar, ASP /Mech acted as advisory committee members and they helped the organizing committee in planning and execution of all the events. The whole event was supported by SRC team members Mrs.Poornima @ Priyanga R and Mrs.P.Divya bharathi for Pongal preparations by faculty, NSS incharge Dr.V.Jeevanantham and placement team members Mrs.Thenmozhi and Mr.N.Vijay. Compeering was done in tamil by Dr.K.Kannadasan.
