At SRM Madurai College of Engineering and Technology, the 80th Independence Day of
India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur.
The Indian Tricolour flag was hoisted on the college campus by the Principal, Dr. S.
Durairaj. Following the flag hoisting, he paid tribute to the leaders who fought for India’s
independence and highlighted their sacrifices and patriotism. He also advised the students to
follow the ideals of the freedom fighters and to uphold patriotism, unity, and a sense of
responsibility towards the nation.
On behalf of the college’s Vaigarai Tamil Mandram, various competitions were conducted
for students to commemorate Independence Day. Students participated enthusiastically in
these competitions, and prizes were distributed to the winners by the Principal. As part of the
celebrations, students also delivered speeches on the topic “Thaai Manne Vanakkam”
(Salutations to Motherland).
Dr. Ravi Pachamoothoo, Chairman of the SRM Group, Mrs. Padmapriya Ravi,
Chairperson of SRM Madurai College, and Ms. Harini, Secretary of SRM Madurai College,
conveyed their Independence Day wishes to the students. They also congratulated and
appreciated the students who participated in and won various competitions.
The Independence Day celebrations concluded on a joyful note with everyone taking a pledge
to recognize the value of freedom and work together for the unity, progress, and development
of the nation.
